Events - Festival Programme

Fifteen internationally acclaimed stars and over 250 local artists perform beautiful and atmospheric music in stunning settings celebrating the Liberation of Jersey. Highlights include: Jazz at Hamptonne with Gwilym Simcock’s Lighthouse Trio, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Bach's B minor Mass with Royal Opera Stars, and "Pictures at an Exhibition" at Jersey Academy of Music. Prokofiev & Friends at Jersey Academy of Music

 Dramatic Russian chamber music Dramatic Russian chamber music including Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Prokofiev’s Flute Sonata, and a premier of Gabriel Prokofiev’s Two violin sonata is performed by 6 international soloists.

At 6:30pm there is a pre-concert performance of compositions by students of Jersey Academy of Music, based on themes and concepts from Prokofiev's music.

Liberation Reflection at the Town Church

Liberation Dramatic poems and readings about Jersey's occupation are interwoven in a premiere of “Gulag” performed by international prize winning accordionist Milos Milivojevic inches from the place where Major Peirson died defending Jersey from the attacking French forces in the last land battle on British soil.

Liberation Celebration at Jersey Opera House

<Liberation Celebration A celebration of Jersey's Liberation features Michael Collins and Friends - six major international soloists performing in a night of passionate Russian chamber music from Rachmaninov to Glinka. A pre-concert event showcases Jersey’s young artists at 7:00pm.

Bach B Minor Mass at St Thomas Church

St Thomas Choir Bach's masterwork, the B minor Mass, is performed by international stars Sophie Bevan, Lawrence Zazzo, Robert Murray and Graeme Danby, soloists who have performed principal roles at the Royal Opera House, alongside the Hertfordshire Chorus and the Jersey Chamber Orchestra in the exquisite setting of St Thomas' Church more often known as Jersey's Cathedral. The conductor will be rising star Daniel Cohen who is also the Chief Conductor of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra.

Russian Guitar Masters at la Catel Fort

Greve Enjoy a walk around stunning bay Greve de Lecq on Jersey's north coast exploring Russian poetess Anna Ahkmatova and Jersey's Russian connections, as hundreds of Russian forced labourers were shipped to Jersey to build fortifications around the coast.

The walk finishes with a concert of famous guitar music and Russian masters by Carlos Bonell in the historic La Catel fort, after starting from The Prince of Wales ending in time for some lunch before the concert.

Jazz at Hampronne A vibrant evening of dance - exploring the diverse and fiery dances of Latin America led by Ola and James, as well as solo and ensemble performances from around the world from salsa to tango and capoeiro. Showcasing sheer technical talent, physicality and magic this will be an evening that will be nothing short of electrifying. As well as dancing, the evening will be hosted by Ola and James Jordan and includes an honest and candid question & answer session where you can ask them anything at all.
