Liberation Reflection at the Old Magistrates Court

Come and enjoy the opening of Jersey’s first Liberation music festival with a lunchtime concert. Poems and readings about Jersey’s Liberation will be interspersed with Bach’s beautiful cello suites played with Emmanuelle Dumas in the Old Magistrates Court. There will also be an exhibition of Liberation photographs.

Fête de la Musique at Mont Orgueil Castle

Nicola Benedetti, Krzysztof Chorzelski, Alexander Sitkovetsky, & Leonard Elschenbroich are joined by over 200 of the island's musicians in a stunning setting overlooking Grouville Bay. Enjoy wonderful chamber music including Handel’s Passacaglia, Dvorak’s Terzetto, and Brahms’ String Quartet No 2 from the international stars in the marquee. Explore the castle and experience fanfares from the battlements, poetry of liberation in the Tudor Chamber, young instrumentalists in the Great Hall, choirs, jazz orchestras and big bands including the Jersey Festival Choir, the Well Swung Jazz Orchestra, Jersey Island Singers, La Ronde Trumpeters, Musical Originals Singers, St Ouen’s Ladies Choir and the Le Rocquier Big Band. Come early and enjoy the hog roast (from 6pm)!

My Bass and other Animals at Jersey Opera House

Guy Pratt, the world renowned bass guitar player entertains with music and hilariously unbelievable tales of his journey from bored teenager to life with the stars including Madonna, David Bowie and Pink Floyd armed only with a bass guitar...unmissable.

Masterclasses at the Jersey Academy of Music

Enjoy a short performance by the Sitkovetsky Trio, and watch Masterclasses taken by the stars in which young musicians receive world class tuition.

Al Fresco Concert at the Weighbridge

Opera Singers including Maya Sapone perform popular songs from the 1940’s by Cole Porter and Gershwin as part of the Liberation festivities at the Weighbridge.

Liberation Gala Concert at the Opera House: Nicola Benedetti, Carlos Bonell, Sitkovetsky Trio & Friends

A stunning concert including Falla’s charming Spanish Dances arranged for guitar and strings, Smetana’s ravishing Piano Trio, and Schumann’s Piano Quintet celebrates the Liberation of Jersey. Poetry based on Liberation will set the scene for these wonderful chamber works.

Coffee Concert at the Arts Centre

Exciting “rising star” Wu Qian, Tessa Grobel and several of Jersey’s young pianists play a fun and quirky programme of Piano Duets to include Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, Ravel’s Mother Goose, Debussy’s Petit Suite, Brahms’ Waltzes & Hungarian Dances. Coffee will be served in the informal surroundings of Cafe Jacs.

Jazz at Elizabeth Castle

A family day out headlined by the first lady of British Jazz Claire Martin & her trio play popular jazz classics including “Too Darn Hot” by Cole Porter, and “How Deep is the Ocean” by Irving Berlin in a Marquee at Elizabeth Castle. Also performing are Carlos Bonell, Tessa Grobel and local jazz singer Caroline Hamilton. Book a seat at your own table or come with a picnic, a rug and enjoy a glass of champagne. Tickets include entry to the castle and transportation on the castle ferry.

Yacht Concert in the Bay of Beauport

International guitar legend Carlos Bonell plays a Spanish programme including Albeniz’s Asturias, Tarrega’s Recuerdos de la Alhambra and Falla’s Miller’s Dance on a yacht in the picturesque bay of Beauport. Carlos will be surrounded by a flotilla of boats enjoying his amazing playing. Come with your own boat, enjoy a cruise or bring your own picnic to the beach.

Jersey Choir Concert at Jersey Opera House

Culmination of a day’s choral workshops with Janet Shell and Maya Sapone of the Royal Opera House featuring a variety of Jersey choirs across all ages as well as young instrumental ensembles. The programme concludes with a medley of war time favourites sung by all the choirs and the audience.
